Twang

Wow, cool show at Fitzgerald's last night
Los Straightjackets with the Fabulous Pontani Sisters, and the way cool
trio The Hi-Risers.

The show was introduced by Kaiser George, the emcee for the night and
guest vocalist for the mostly instrumental Los Striaghtjackets...
Kaiser George trying to teach Daddio a little english with "The gist of
twist is chiefly in the hips" launched us into a really fun rendition of
"Peppermint Twist" with the Hi-Risers joining them on stage for a little
back-up vocal action.
The Hi-Risers were tons of Fun, and should be headlining their own show
soon. Christmas in Jail, blastoff, and "that trucker song" were
favorites.

Lots of odd types at the show, an older crowd than I'd think, but
considering the material, maybe that's why, the whole show was a
rock-and-roll wayback trip to the seductive sounds of twangy guitars,
and of course the burlesque styings of the Pontani Sisters. The Sisters
danced, and changed costumes quite a bit and helped break up what might
have been a somewhat dense block of instrumental music, along with the
help of Kaiser george on a couple more songs.

For me the sisters had a few too many tatoos, but one is too many for
me, and frankly you ain't lookin' at their arms! Los Straightjackets
rocked, got called back for three encores. The did a rendition of the
Batman tv theme which got the guy next to me ( a writer/reviewer
perhaps, from the notes he was taking) leaning over and yelling to me,
"Oh Please let the Pontani Sisters come out in Catwoman costumes!" too
bad they didn't it would have been a great topper. The also player
another guitar flavored version of the Musters theme.

All in all Daddio, Eddie, and the other Los Straightjackets members did
a fine job rockin the house, but the Hi-Risers need to set more dates,
I'd see them again tomorrow!
